Allergic much??? -2/5/11

When I got Kensley up in the morning last week she had a couple of bite looking things on her face. I didn't think to much of it, because they didn't seem to bother her. Well later that night after waking up from a nap she was covered in a rash. Not only was it a rash but all welted up. I started freaking out realizing she has to be allergic to something. I called the doctor right away and explained what she looked like and figured they would send me to the ER (because it was on the weekend). But they didn't. They said they would have another doctor call me. In the mean time I stripped EVERYTHING out of her bed and took her clothes off and threw them in the washer. The doctor finally called back and asked me if she started any new foods or medications. I told them she had just finished taking Amoxicillin the day before from an ear infection she had. And they instantly said that is what it was probably from. By explaining her rash to him, he didn't sound to worried about it and said to take her in first thing Monday morning unless it gets bothersome to her or worse.
After giving her Benadryl the rash went down and then disappeared. But then she was covered in it again Sunday morning so bad. Every time I nursed her it seemed to get even worse. I wondered if maybe she was allergic to me or something I must have ate. Benson had been trying to put toys in her mouth (stinker) maybe she had an allergic reaction to that. I didn't know why it kept coming back SO BAD!
Monday morning I got her right in to have her checked out. Her doctor right away said the same thing, "Yep, she's allergic to the amoxicillin." Me being confused at why she would break out in a rash after she stopped taking it then when she would have started baffled me. But he said sometimes things do that. So he wrote on her charts she's allergic to AMOXICILLIN. "But if in the future she gets a dose it will probably do the same thing and give her a rash."- he said. (I will make sure her next doctor knows.) She looked so bad and I don't want to ever see her like that again! POOR BABY!
It lasted for about 5 or 6 days before finally going away for good.

A SURPRISE visit! Feb. 2-4

Andrew was talking on the phone to his best bud Mitch while I was getting the kids ready for bed one night. When all the sudden there was a knock on the door. Who do you think it was... MITCH!!!! We were all so excited. (I was hoping for the whole family-but it was still good to see just Mitch). Andrew was glad to be able to hang out with his buddy again. He has been so lonely here without him. It doesn't help that it looks like the Evers are still here. The people that now live in their old house kept the same curtains in their door... and faithful grill! tear tear
With Andrew having to do school nothing exciting really happened while he was here except for a few rounds of "Just Dance" on the Wii. I got some good videos but promised that Allie is the only other person to see them. Sorry folks! But here are some of the moves...

Thanks for coming out Mitch!

We loved it and the SURPRISE of it... but if you do it again you have to bring the whole family! :)

What I won't miss about Omaha! -2/2

When the ice on your windshield is so thick it breaks your ice scrapper or comes off in huge chunks it is ridiculous! Andrew was out trying to scrap his windshield for 15 minutes before finally giving up. His defrost doesn't work unless he is driving. So he had no help there. After the sun hit it for a while he was able to get it off.
The snow on the other hand never melts and there is ICE everywhere. I don't go outside unless I have to. Which is usually on Sunday for church!

TEETH!! -1/31

Benson has thought he is so funny to put these teeth in, come up behind you, and SCARE you by screaming "ROAR". One day he kept doing it to Kensley and she would just look at him like, "You are crazy and that's soooo not normal!". It was funny to watch her look at him!

"Is he serious about that?"

Go BLUE JAYS!!! -1/29

Creighton put on a luncheon/pep-rally/charity thing before one of their basketball games so we decided to go as a family. We were running a little late and Andrew didn't want his tickets to be given away so he dropped me and the kids off at the hotel and he went to go find a place to park. I was packing Kensley on me and trying to get two curious boys to follow me through the slowly getting drunken crowds. After two escalators and mazing our way through people on bottle #3 we (yes, I didn't lose a kid...for very long anyway) made it to the pharmacy table. Got the tickets and also tickets to get food and wondered, "What now?". I had the boys step back out of the way and we watched as Creighton shirts were thrown out to the crowds. Some random stranger came and put beads around the kids necks. Then finally I spotted Andrew. We made our way over to a vendor and got our food and sat and ate with one of Andrew's friends. Benson was excited beyond words when we got his OWN little pop. He didn't want to put it down.
Then we headed over to the game!

Benson and his mini Sprite. It didn't leave his hands the entire time!
Kensley didn't know what to think of it all but did really good.
The boys enjoyed the game. But got tired torwards the end. We stayed until there was only 3 minutes left, then left early to not get caught up in the crowds.
And YES we won! Woohoo!!!

The zoo! -1/28

I hadn't taken the kids to the zoo in MONTHS so we decided to venture out one day when it was above freezing.

They have changed a few things so the boys were excited to so something new... like this BIG water turtle statue.
The "Cat Complex" is always one of the boys favorites because of all the big cats of course! The "daddy lion" was up and moving around looking for something to eat up close so we watched him for a bit. We didn't see the baby tiger. But the Jaguar gave us a show jumping around and waiting to pounce on us it looked like. I kept staring right at the boys and would hunch down. Kind of creepy!
The workers were feeding the penguins so none were in the water in the background swimming. Benson is so funny in these bubbles though. He tries to reach out and touch the glass but its just a reflection. When you push him in a bit so he can touch it, he freaks out because he thinks he is going to fall in.

Big girl! -1/29

Kensley was being so good sitting up on the couch like a BIG girl. Then her brothers saw her and decided to move in. She kind of smiled at first and then got really worried and kept looking at me like, "Are you going to get me out of this or just take pictures?" I couldn't deny her cute little face and picked her up... but the brothers just followed! :)

The fun of having a little sister! 1/15

One of the ways ALL "3" of my kids stay entertained inside. Tanner and Benson take turns pushing Kensley around in a doll stroller. They all love it and I am able to clean up a bit!
Another day Benson was pushing Kensley around and ran off saying, "She's cold, she's cold!" And came back with a blanket to wrap around her and warm her up! So sweet! He got a little mad after though because then he couldn't push her as easily and decided she didn't need it anymore.

Pockets- 1/14

Benson has lately taken a liking of putting his hands in his pockets and will walk around the house like this. It's so funny! Especially when he rocks back and forth on his feet, hands shoved tightly in his pockets!

5 MONTHS OLD!! -1/14

Daddy's little FLOWER!
Kensley is 5 months old and growing...
height: 23 1/2 in.
weight: 14 lb.
(I just did these at home and don't know how accurate they are.)
I just couldn't decide what pictures to post. I thought she was making the funniest faces, so I just posted them all. Her little personality is developing and she's getting to be so funny! I posted these in the order I took them. She didn't want to be set down and a camera put in her face. And just couldn't decide whether to laugh, cry, get mad, or just give in!

Homemade popcicles -1/13

After our bubbles the boys made some lemonade then poured it into an ice tray. Covered the top with Press n' Seal. Popped in toothpicks and let them freeze. Later that day we enjoyed Lemoncicles! With the little extra "love" the boys added they tasted so delicious!!! Good job boys and good treat!

Bubbles 1/13/11

Keeping busy on long cold winter days. I had the kids go through the house and find objects that had holes or a hole in them. I didn't tell them what we where going to do. (Some things they selected I had to put back). Then I got the bubble solution out. They were so excited. With the straws I told them over and over before they used them to make sure to just blow NOT suck up. Benson of course swallowed a mouth full and kept wiping at his tongue (poor boy). I gave him plenty of water to drink then he was ready to play again and this time he didn't forget to just blow. :) Tanner's favorite bubble maker was the apple slicer because it made lots of HUGE bubbles, mine was the baby spoon because it made tiny bubbles, and Benson's was the straw.... after he started blowing.

PJ's 1/10/11

I didn't get any pictures with all the kids in their pjs at Christmas because Kensley was already asleep. So I had the kids pose. Then I had to get a picture of Kensley with her new blanket and doll to document her very 1st Christmas!!! She's so excited... can't you tell!
